Relic of St. Maximilian Kolbe Coming to the Diocese of Springfield

A relic of  Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Franciscan priest who gave his life for that of another prisoner at the Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitch, where he was killed by lethal injection on August 14, 1941, is coming to the Diocese of Springfield this month, where it will be on display at three local churches.

The relic will be on display at Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street in Holyoke, June 17 -19 The display will conclude with a Holy Hour at 2 PM.

The relic will then go to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony Street in Chicopee. Mass will be celebrated on June 21, at 6:00 PM; On June 22, the Rosary will be recited in Spanish at 5 PM., followed by Mass in Spanish and Veneration at 6 PM. On June 23, there will be a Mass for the sick and their caregivers at 6 PM. 

On June 24, The relic will be formally welcomed at a Prayer Service at at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr, 566 Front Street in Chicopee at 7:00 PM. It will remain there until June 26.
