Grounded in love of God and neighbor, the John 21 group will meet weekly to learn about and live out the call to discipleship through service to our local community and neighbors around the world. All fifth-eighth graders in the area are welcome to join us on Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-5:00pm during the school year. We recognize that fifth and sixth graders attending Lee Elementary School can’t come until 3:15. That’s perfectly fine–we’d still love to have you join us–just indicate that you’ll be arriving late.
Who will we serve? We will be volunteering with the Lee Food Pantry, Lee Community Garden and Lee Public Library, assisting the Lee Congregational Church with their outreach to those experiencing food insecurity, knitting baby hats/blankets for New Directions Women’s Center, making cards for the homebound/those in nursing homes, and helping with the Valentine Community Project. If you have other ideas of ways we could support those in our local or global communities, reach out to Marya at 413-243-0275 or [email protected].
How will it work if my child has to arrive later than 2:30 because of school dismissal? From 2:30-3:30pm we will stay in the St. Mary’s School building–taking time for snack, education, and indoor projects like knitting hats/blankets and making cards. We won’t leave for any field trips to volunteer in the community until everyone arrives.
