Sacrament of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Sick is celebrated for the sick, elderly, and those anticipating surgery. For more information, please call the Parish Office at (413) 243-0275 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, or anytime in case of a life and death emergency.

The compassion of Jesus toward the sick throughout his ministry is a clear sign that with him had come the Kingdom of God, the victory over sin, over suffering, and death. By his Passion and death, he gave a new meaning to our suffering which, when united with his own, can become a means of purification and salvation for us and others. This sacrament confers a special grace which unites the sick person more intimately to the Passion of Christ for his good and the good of all the Church. It gives comfort, peace, courage, and even the forgiveness of sins if the sick person is not able to make a confession. Sometimes, if it's the will of God, this sacrament even brings about the restoration of physical health. Through the ministry of Priest, Jesus touches the sick and heal them.
